For almost 40 years we owned Nahan Galleries in New York, New Orleans and Tokyo. We represented many world renowned artists. We exhibited and sold their paintings internationally, published their graphics, and represented them as agent, dealer and confidant.
The New Orleans Gallery, opened in 1960 and brought to the city one man exhibitions by many important International Artists. These included cataloged shows for Chagall, Miro, Hunderwasser, Rufino Tomayo, Henry Moore, and many others.
We opened the New York Gallery in the 1980’s which was followed by the opening of the Tokyo Gallery. We continued to exhibit many important group and one man shows by artists such as Picasso, Miro, Chagall, Le Corbusier, Olbinski, Dorothea Tanning, Philippe Halsman, Max Papart, Tobiasse, James Coignard, Oscar DeMejo, Marino Marini, Villers, Salemme, and many more.
In 1997 we thought we had retired. However, our visions of golf courses and fishing vacations soon gave way to visions of art and antiques. Patinae, the “fine finish”, turned into a new beginning.
